Alpine Backpack Gregory Alpinisto

Alpine All-Rounder

In winter 2017/18, Gregory is launching the new Alpinisto alpine all-season backpack which will be available in two volumes. The Alpinisto’s extensive features mean that it can be quickly adapted to different activities, whether ice climbing, ski touring or mountaineering. The new Fusion Flex suspension system offers good load distribution and excellent vertical stability, plus superb freedom of movement. Exactly what alpinists are looking for.

The Alpinisto has been an important member of Gregory’s collection for many years and has set new standards for alpine packs. It has accompanied climbers and mountaineers on expeditions around the world, for the 2017/18 winter season Gregory has used their feedback to built the next generation for optimum performance in alpine environments. In addition to new features, lighter and more robust materials make the latest models ten per cent lighter than previous versions.

The Fusion Flex suspension system is lightweight, robust and has been developed specifically for use in rugged, alpine terrain. The 7001 aluminium tubular frame and perforated HDPE frame sheet provide excellent load support and very good torsional flexibility. The Alpinisto’s 3D-thermoformed padding snugs up to the back and ensures reliable load distribution. And Gregory has designed the hipbelt so that the pack remains fully compatible when wearing a climbing harness. Water- and snow-shedding fabrics prevent snow from adhering to the harness, hipbelt or padding.

For routes and trips where every gram counts, the Alpinisto can also be stripped down to use as a softpack. To go lighter and faster, simply remove the aluminium frame, frame sheet, lid pocket and hipbelt.

Extra-long straps are on hand to accommodate wider skis or a splitboard on the sides of the Alpinisto. On the front of the pack, a large, compressible and particularly abrasion-resistant pocket provides plenty of room for safely storing crampons. And there are two different options for storing ice tools. Whether for technical climbing, mountaineering or ski touring, they will remain securely attached to the pack, no matter what shape they are. In addition, the all-round side zip offers quick and easy access to the main body.

The Alpinisto will be available from September 2017 in 35 or 50 litre capacities in the colours Lichen Green and Zest Orange. As usual with Gregory, both Alpinistos come in three different back lengths (small, medium and large), to guarantee the best fit. After all, a backpack has to fit like a pair of shoes.
