FIBERTEC® becomes greener in packaging
Refill pack and Recycling-PET-Bottles
German clean & care product manufacturer Fibertec will introduce more sustainable packaging in 2017. In addition to the existing bottles, they will offer their bestsellers GreenGuard Spray-On, BlueGuard Spray-on and ProWash in refill-soft bags. Furthermore, Fibertec will start using completely new bottles made from recycled PET, which can be recycled again.
Since founding the company in 2004, Fibertec has specialised on sustainable clean & care products for outdoor equipment. As far as possible, the German company uses environmentally friendly raw materials from renewable resources, re-cycling, or waste products (for example from the cosmetics industry). Instead of propellant gas, they use compressed air, instead of volatile solvents they use water. Highlight: In 1999, Fibertec was the first manufacturer to introduce a DWR-treatment based on polyurethane-dendrimers. Until today, GreenGuard is the most effective alternative to C6 or C8 fluorocarbon-chemistry. In 2017, the company will make their packing more environmentally friendly.
As the first manufacturer in the sporting goods and outdoor industry, Fibertec introduces refill packs, as known for soap etc. in the supermarket. Fibertec will start with their bestsellers GreenGuard Spray-On, BlueGuard Spray-On, and ProWash. CEO Guido Agustiniak explains: “We have calculated, that we will use 83 % less packaging material with these new soft bags.”
Additionally, Fibertec introduces completely new bottles, made from a recycled PET. They will start with the 250 ml bottle (which will then come with a dosing cap), the 100 and 500 ml bottles will follow later. Augustiniak says: “One would think it should be easy to source bottles made from recycled PET. However, it is not. It took us really long to find a partner in Germany to launch this pioneering recycling project – finally we do it.
Important to know for all retailers: Fibertec has deliberately refrained from cleaning or decolorizing the recycling-granulate, because it would have been an extra damage to the environment without use. So the bottles from recycled PET granulate, which would normally be clear, may have slight shades of blue, green or grey – no mistake, but a signal of sustainability.
